Lady Ranger

After the fall of Arnor and her successor-kingdoms, the remnants of the Dúnedain of the North scattered into Eriador. Some of them gathered in the Angle, a triangle of land in the Trollshaws bordered by the Great East-West Road, the River Hoarwell (Mitheithel), and the River Loudwater (Bruinen). Here they may have built several hidden hamlets or villages.

This lady Ranger is no stranger to the woods of the Trollshaws, and fears no foe that may lurk therein, by day or by night. She knows every deer trail, every hiding place, and every secret glade from the Hoarwell to the Loudwater. She patrols under sun and moon to ensure that no trolls come down from the gorges north of the Road into the Angle, where the hidden village of her folk lies. She is clad in forester’s attire of a fine but durable weave. A checkered leather jack is worn over a green shirt of the softest linen. Her trousers are loosely fitted, allowing her unrestricted movement, for she often climbs trees to ambush foes, or to conceal herself from them. Tall leather boots allow her to wade along the banks of the rivers that border the Angle. Her most beautiful garment is her hooded cloak, embroidered with a detailed pattern of leaves.

I’m so thrilled with the improved image quality of the screenshots now that I’m using Fraps to capture them as suggested in Devonna’s recent guide. Big thanks to Devonna for that awesome tip! I’m also really excited by the way this outfit turned out. I had been wanting to use these leggings for a while, since you don’t see them very often, and when I realized the chest piece had a compatible green in its undyeable segment, the whole thing just kind of fell into place. I do think this cloak, with its beautifully detailed pattern, is one of the unsung heroes of the Shadows of Angmar-era pieces. As all LOTRO outfitting enthusiasts know, some outfits can be a royal pain to put together, but others are just a joy, and this was one of them for me!

Tips: If purchasing from the Store is not your cup of tea, the Hood of Night (bartered — skirmish camp classic quartermaster/Halls of Night – rare) has the same skin as the Traveller’s Hood (but note that it has a different base colour and so will dye differently than the Traveller’s Hood). Alternatively, you could forego a head cosmetic and replace the Linen Cloak with the Loose Linen Cloak (crafted — tailor T2), which has the same appearance except that it also has a hood. While putting this outfit together, I also noticed that the Traveller’s Cloak and Superb Traveller’s Cloak (both crafted — tailor T3) also look great with this outfit.
