Little Red Riding-hood

Though usually more than content to stay at home, safe in their Shire, we know that some unusual Hobbits were reported (or accused) to have dashed off for mad adventures. Being often unprepared for the world beyond the borders of the four farthings, some of these Hobbits may find more adventure than they bargained for!

This lass has ridden her pony, a gentle, plodding creature, over the hills and through the woods into dark lands far from home. Her Gammer is sick, you see, or she never would have left the Shire! Wolves–or worse–howl in the distance, yet the sounds seem to drift ever closer. A twig snaps behind her, and dry, dead boughs creak overhead. The very trunks themselves seem to press in close around her, twigs and branches grasping at her red riding-hood and cloak. She can hear the hot blasts of breath and slavering, snapping jaws of some beastly predator stalking her. Or is it just her imagination? Why did she ever leave the Shire, and why must her Gammer’s cottage be so far away? Only comforting thoughts of the August sun on the lawn back home and of steaming hot bath water scented with lavendar help to hold the terror at bay.

I must’ve had a thing for dark, spooky woods this week! In this outfit I thought I’d do an  homage, Middle-earth style, to the tale of Little Red Riding-hood. I always wonder why Little Red Riding-hood was wearing a riding-hood but decided to walk to Grandma’s house. We may never know! My Hobbit-lass here was much more practical and brought her pony.

  • Head: Urdhol-helm (looted — The Foundry/Ring-forge of Orthanc), crimson
  • Shoulders: Gwir-palvais (looted — Rise of Isengard instance cluster), crimson
  • Back: Plain Cloak (purchased — any outfit vendor), crimson
  • Chest: Inkeeper’s Dress (purchased — LOTRO Store), default
  • Steed: Grey steed (quest reward — epic [52] Volume 1, Book 15, Epilogue: Laerdan’s Parcel)

Tips: This is a pretty simple outfit and there are tons of substitutions you could make to get a similar effect. If you don’t have access to the Rise of Isengard pieces, a simple Plain Hooded Cloak (purchased — any outfit vendor) would do just the trick.

She look’s quite scared :), where exactly does her gammer live? . The screenshot in the long strip at the top is priceless, must have been hard to catch it.

  2. This outfit made me laugh. Very well done!! Love the ambiance of the scary forest too!

Good grief! The poor thing. Did she wander all the way to Angmar? Seriously, the lass needs to bring a map with her next time! I hope the wargs didn’t get her, but it does seem hopeless, and warg pups must eat too and all…

poor girl, it hurts to even look at her terrified face! 😀 hope she got home safely and her lovely dress didn’t get too dirty on the way back.

  5. Hehehe, for DarkJackal and Freyjuska, I feel as though she might have been okay in the end. I think she possibly met a certain woodsman (or Woodman, as the case may be) who helped her out. I heard there may have been some unpleasantness with a warg, but it turned out her Gammer was hiding in a wardrobe all along…

    😛
