At the noontide of the realm of Númenor in the Second Age, a Shadow fell across the island. Sauron, Enemy of the Free Peoples of Middle-earth, had surrendered to Ar-Pharazôn the king, and was brought thither as a prisoner. But through his subtlety and deceits, Sauron gained the favour and trust of the king, and was made his advisor. He turned the king’s prideful heart toward the Dark, whispering that if Men were to build a fane and give to Melkor their worship, they would be freed from death, the Doom of Men. Ar-Pharazôn was thus turned against the Valar and the Elves of Valinor, but there remained in Númenor some who would not betray the West. These were called the Elendili, the Elf-friends, and they remained faithful that death was not an evil, but rather was the Gift of Men. But they were opposed by the King’s Men, who in their folly would seek to wrest deathlessness from the Undying Lands.
This woman is one of the faithful Elendili in the darkening days of Númenor. She dwells in the Nísimaldar, the shorelands about the Bay of Eldanna where flourish fragrant trees brought of old by visiting Elves, including the majestic silver-and-gold mellyrn. A friend to the Elves and a minstrel, in happier times she was taught many fair songs and tunes from out of the West. Clad in white and gold and vibrant purple with a golden mallorn-leaf brooch at her breast, she wanders the beautiful woods playing a wistful tune upon her pipe, hoping for the return of the Fair Folk. But they do not return, for the persecution of the Elf-friends grows apace and the King’s Men at times hunt these woods in search of the Faithful, whom they deem seditious and carry off to the fane of Melkor, wherefrom none escape. Although she is a woman of peace, she is armed with a slender dagger and should she be waylaid by Ar-Pharazôn’s warriors she does not fear to do battle with them, for she is a woman of the high blood of Andúnië, fair and noble and strong.
Fashion Week in LOTRO continues! This week, I’m offering LOTRO Store coupons for complimentary white and gold dyes (see the top of the sidebar to the right to get yours), so I wanted to present an outfit that incorporates both of those colours using dyed pieces as well as undyeable sections. Thus this colourful look was born, which features a big dose of vivid purple on a foundation of bright white and gold. I hope that everyone’s been having fun taking part in the week’s festivities on your servers and that you’re all busy putting together your outfits to submit to the Fashion Week outfit contest. Remember, you have until 18 March to submit your entry to the good folk at Turbine!
On another subject, I’m happy to see that with the recent Update 10, the “ugly Legendary Item glow”, as it is usually called, has been toned down a bit! To be fair, the glow for Ancient Dwarf damage seems to still need work, as it remains extremely bright, but the Westernesse and Beleriand glows look much better. I even left an LI equipped when I took the screenshots for today’s outfit, something I would normally never do! The effect is still a bit too strong on broad weapons like axes and hammers, but now looks much better on thinner weapons like swords and daggers. It is definitely a step in the right direction!

Tips: The Minstrel and Lore-master level 60 Moria cluster sets have head-pieces that share the same appearance as the Rune-keeper circlet that I used in this outfit. If you don’t have access to the Festive Azure Cloak, a very nice alternative that works with this outfit is the Rock-climber’s Cloak (crafted — tailor T6) dyed purple. If you don’t have access to the gloves used in today’s outfit, you can sometimes find gloves with a similar skin at the auction house. They key to these gloves is that they take both white and gold dye very clearly and strongly, so you could go with either dye colour to your taste.
